Please join our ongoing search efforts for Tom Hecht!

Weekly Search Plan

While the authorities are busy using their tools, our goal is to work together as a community to generate awareness for our missing loved one and friend, Tom Hecht.

Going forward, our search efforts will be focused on specific locations throughout downtown Milwaukee. These locations will remain the same until Tom has been found.

Everyone is encouraged to come show their support as we stand on the street corners of the locations below wearing orange t-shirts and holding signs while others re-canvas the surrounding streets in a four block radius. The re-canvas will include taping down loose fliers, putting up additional fliers and re-posting in areas as needed. We will meet at the locations each day at 5:30 p.m. and reconvene at 6:30 p.m. to burn the Candles of Hope. Below are the locations.

Monday – Humboldt Avenue and Water Street (near Bel Air Cantina)

Tuesday – St. Paul Avenue and Water Street (near Public Market)

Wednesday – Knapp Street and Water Street (near AJ Bombers)

Thursday – Commerce Street and North Avenue (near UWM dorms)

Friday – Highland Avenue and Water Street (near the Milwaukee Performing Arts Center)

Saturday – NW Corner of State St & 4th St.; The Bradley Center from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Sunday – Lincoln Memorial Drive and Lafayette Hill Road (meet in Milwaukee Yacht Club Parking Lot across from Alterra) from 1:00pm to 2:00pm

A Sunday Walk For Tom

On Sunday March 18th at 1:00 PM we will be meeting at the Pick N Save parking lot located at 1100 East Garfield Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53212. We plan to walk from the parking lot across the Humboldt Avenue Bridge then down N. Water Street to E Brady Street and from E Brady Street back over to Humboldt Avenue and make our way back to the parking lot. The distance of the walk is approximately 1 mile. When we return to the Pick N Save parking lot we will join together for prayer and light candles of hope. We anticipate the walk will take approximately 1 hour.

If you have a “Help Find Tom Hecht” t-shirt please wear it for the Sunday walk. We will have all the posters from today and we want everyone to walk with a poster.

Our most sincere thanks in advance to everyone who is able and willing to participate. Your strength individually and in numbers is impressive and warms our hearts.

We will continue to search for Tom and post fliers each night next week with more details and locations to come very soon.

Saturday March 17th – St. Patricks Day Assembly on Water Street

On Saturday March 17th we will take shifts standing in large groups at 2 locations around the major St. Patrick’s Day Festivities. We are asking for as many people possible to show up and stand with us at either location for as long as you are comfortable doing so!

There are 2 locations – please just go directly to one or the other:

  • Location # 1 Corner of E Knapp and N Water Street
  • Location # 2 Corner of E Highland and N Water Street

There are 4 shifts during the day at each location:

  • 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

The shifts are guidelines to organize our efforts. We need people throughout the day. Each location will have t-shirts, large posters, sandwich boards and fliers. Our goal is to continue to raise awareness that Tom is still missing, we are looking for him and we need help finding him. Strength in numbers shows that we are working together as a community to find Tom and together we will make this happen. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Weather:
The weather forecast says the daytime high is 77 degrees. Dress accordingly.
Parking:
Free parking is available at the Marcus Center parking structure on W. State st., just west of N. Water st. Let the parking attendant know you are here for Tom Hecht.

Street parking anywhere near this area, especially after 10 am, is very difficult. Anticipate street parking possibly several blocks away and walking to one of the two locations. We encourage people to walk or take buses to the location if they are worried about street parking in that immediate area.
